Encourage Real-World Problem Solving:
Motivate participants to address pressing sustainability issues by applying engineering, design, and scientific principles in real-world contexts.
Foster Collaboration Across Disciplines:
Promote individual work and the exchange of ideas among students from diverse disciplines to cultivate holistic solutions that are technically viable and aesthetically thoughtful.
Enhance Awareness of Sustainable Practices:
Raise awareness of sustainable practices in engineering, technology, and design by encouraging participants to research and implement eco-friendly materials, renewable energy sources, and efficient resource management.
Develop Practical Skills and Professional Knowledge:
Provide students with hands-on experience in project management, individual work, and communication, equipping them with essential skills for their future careers in sustainability-focused industries.
Support Innovation in Green Engineering and Design:
Encourage innovative thinking and the development of cutting-edge solutions that incorporate renewable energy technologies, waste reduction methods, and other sustainable engineering practices.
Emphasis should be on:
1. Environmental Impact:
Solutions must minimize environmental impact. This can involve using sustainable materials, designing for energy efficiency, reducing emissions, or proposing methods to extend product life cycles.
2. Innovation & Practicality:
Projects should incorporate creative ideas that are feasible for real-world application. Participants must balance innovation with practicality, making solutions that could be realistically implemented in modern settings.
3. Scalability and Adaptability:
Solutions should be adaptable to various settings or scalable, demonstrating potential for larger applications or easy integration into different environments or systems.
Each participant must submit a comprehensive proposal, including:
Problem Statement:
(Create a clear sustainability challenge)
Solution Overview:
Explain the nature of the proposed solution if the solution is proposed, it’s intended effects, and its relevance.
Technical Specifications:
Produce technical specifications of outline design.
Feasibility Analysis:
Evaluate the feasibility of the solution, not only in terms of costs and resources required for the solution, and the steps to be taken.
Prototype:
Depending on the type of project, individuals may offer a model or a sample for proof of its feasibility.
Projects will be judged based on:
Awards will be awarded for overall best design. Winning individuals will receive cash prizes and certificates::
The best ten projects will be awarded with a free program - Enterprise Development & Investment Promotion Program (EDIP) by UNIDO.
